Hopefully you’re aware of Vine, the video app created by Twitter that allows users to share 6-second videos they record. It has become a runaway success (they announced that 13 million people have signed up in four months), much to the chagrin of Twitter’s competitor Facebook. According to various news sources like TechCrunch Facebook will be launching their version on June 20th by way of Instagram.
When Facebook bought Instagram for roughly 1 billion dollars in April of 2012, many people in the industry were skeptical about whether the price was justifiable. With the popularity of both Instagram and Vine, it looks as if it might be worth it after all. In other words, if you haven’t seen quick video clips in your news feed yet, expect to soon.
